Prepaid electronic transactions

Payzone Hellas (www.payzoneplc.com)
was incorporated in Greece on March 2004 as a joint venture
between Payzone group in Ireland, with its premises in Dublin
and Altius IT Solutions in Greece

Payzone Group offers multiple services in the field of prepaid electronic transactions, including top up services for more than 25 of the top mobile phone operators in 23 countries, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, Spain and Norway. In total Payzone manages a sales network that consists of 150.000 terminals through out Europe and handles payments of more than 12 billion dollars (US$12 bn) per year.

Today, Payzone Hellas serves approximately 70% of the market of prepaid electronic transactions (top up services for mobile, fixed line and Internet accounts) in Greece having established a fast growing network of approximately 3.000 terminals across both mainland and the islands. Being the dominant player in the market of electronic transactions, Payzone Hellas uses the highly reliable and proven infrastructure of the Payzone Group systems already in use in numerous countries, as well as Altius' valuable expertise and knowledge of the local Greek payments market with an established technicians' network throughout Greece. Help desk services are offered to its clients through its own call centre that operates 365 days per year.

The implementation of the integrated collaboration proposals by Payzone Hellas is done through an EFT/ POS Hypercom terminal, which can process an abundance of electronic services-transactions. This terminal is produced in different versions with regards to the way of data communication and can either be a dial-up version through a simple telephone line, a GPRS through a mobile telephony network or a TCP/IP through the internet.

Payzone’s integrated application offers to the collaborating enterprise the ability to enrich its products and services range with approximately 50 new offers, with no investment cost for the majority of the cases, including:

Products of Telephony

Payzone's range of products includes the products of all mobile telephony companies:

  • Vodafone
  • Cosmote
  • Wind
  • Q

as well as the most popular products of fixed line telephony:

  • Talk Talk (Altec Telecoms)
  • Ya (Q Telecom)
  • Virtual Phone home (Tellas)
  • Chronokarta
  • Allo (GREEK TELECOME)

as well as products providing prepaid time for the internet:

  • Smile&Web (Otenet)
  • Netkey (Forthnet)
  • NetCarta (Altec Telecoms)

Additionally, through Payzone’s network Paysafecard is distributed, a prepaid card to be used for secure Internet purchases.

Bill payment services

Since March 2006 a collaboration exists with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL COMPANY, enabling consumers to pay off their bills via Payzone's system.

Payzone’s collaborating enterprises have the main advantage of extended working hours, which stretch well beyond the conventional hours of the traditional bill payment points, such as the banks, the GREEK POST etc. In that way they are able to attract a big part of the market

Apart from the collaboration with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL COMPANY, Payzone hellas has concluded a similar agreement with Tellas and Multichoice and is currently preparing further agreements with additional organizations in order to establish a wide range of bill payment services in the Greek market.

Credit Cards

The terminal used for Payzone’s multiple applications is similar to the one used by the Banks for credit cards payments. In many stores, the cashier is literally crowded by numerous terminals from various banks. Payzone provides the solution to this problem since it can process through a single terminal various credit cards by routing each transaction to the issuing Bank.

Loyalty schemes

Payzone can create a loyalty scheme for all its customers with multiple points of sales. This scheme can be used for the export of detailed statistic data regarding the habits and preferences of its client base, which can greatly assist in drawing sales and promotion policies and for rewarding loyal customers.

Order processing

Another application for the Payzone - associated companies having multiple points of sales is the possibility of the Payzone terminal at each point of sale becoming the tool for transferring orders rapidly and accurately to the central offices, facilitating in this way the dispatching process.

All the abovementioned applications have been materialised in various Payzone's collaborating companies, providing them with a variety of advantages:

1. Increase in productivity of the point of sale where the terminal is installed since the speed at which it operates - thanks also to Payzone’s technical infrastructure - varies with an approximate time of 10" per transaction.

2. Zero operational cost for the point of sale since all costs involved, including Telco cost, paper rolls and maintenance, are undertaken by Payzone.

3. Variety of services at a single point, saving time and energy to the customers of the collaborating enterprise.

4. Minor to negligible investment in equipment since the terminal, in the majority of the cases, belongs to Payzone. The cost is reduced to the parameterization- specialization of the application according to the needs of each customer.

5. All-in-one device, the operation of which is similar from one option to the other decreasing the need of numerous user trainings and minimising the event of an error.

A number of enterprises, mainly supermarkets, have started to follow the trends that are already applicable in many western countries and adopt the integrated multiple services. Payzone hellas has already commenced collaborations with a number of Super Market chains

  • Carrefour - Marinopoulos chain of stores
  • DIA HELLAS AE.
  • Super Market Larissa
  • MASOYTIS
  • Market In
  • Nova Alimenta
  • Daily Orange
  • OK Anytime Markets
  • Ola Stores
  • Olympus Plaza and others

At the same time, Payzone Hellas is in the process of concluding new collaborations with alternative networks with significant numbers of vending points for the provision of electronic services.
